I Heart Maureen Dowd
Thursday, September 15, 2005
I wonder if conservatives hate Maureen Dowd the way liberals hate Ann Coulter? I would guess yes, but I can't fathom how she could possibly instill such response. Because as it turns out, she is my favorite secret nerd crush. I mean, just look at her. Grrr. And when she rolls her eyes in that ladylike way on Bill Mahr and says something understated and witty... like I say, grrr. If I was single I would so totally ask her out!
Anyway, check her here on Bush and Katrina. Remember, the NY Times requires that you be registered to access content.

On a related note, if a picture is worth a thousand words, you want to see the video of Bush taking responsibility for Katrina, courtesy the Washington Post. His tone, the little whine at the end of each sentence (that guy who does him on SNL totally nails this affectation), and the absence of the trademark smirk reveal his obvious discomfort with this message. He looks like he's going to cry.

A couple of quick responses to your comment on my blog.
1. Yes, I am a Christian and I am a Democrat. And, yes I am a conservative Democrat, in the John F Kennedy mold
2. Evolution - It depends. I believe in micro-evolution, but I have questions about macro-evolution.
3. I wish I could believe you weren't beinv "flip," but I find that hard to believe.
4. Jesus would have been neither a liberal or a conservative had he been born or lived during our lifetimes. He'd have enough to say and do to upset anyone who clings so tightly to political ideology that he or she misses the real point of life.
5. I wasn't aware that God hated liberals.
6. I have a couple of questions. Do you think that God hates conservatives, including conservative Democrats? How much have you contributed, if anything to Katrina relief organizations?
One last observation. The problem many of you New Yorkers have (I lived in NW New Jersey for nine years) is that too many of you are about a millionth of an inch deep and a universe wide.
I left a comment at Phil's blog, but apparently he didn't get my wry semse of humor. Hopefully I sorted things out when I emailed him.
