Watching TV, So You Don't Have To

I didn't see the Peter Jennings special on UFOs last night (and would have liked to.) But I did see him on John Stewart the night before. He said that 40 million Americans have seen, or know someone who has seen, a UFO. And that 80 million Americans believe that there is intelligent life in the universe that has visited us here on earth. (It's one thing to believe, as I do, that life must exist on one of those other rocks out there, in some form; scients have already discovered meteorites from Mars with plant matter embedded in them. Which is essentially evience of life. It is another thing to believe in little green or gray men, cattle mutilations, crop circles, the shadow government, and alien abductions.)Now, to put that 80 million figure in perspective, Bush got 60.6 million votes for president in 2004. If you ask me, these two facts taken together explain an awful lot.
