About Us
A penny for your thoughts indeed. Around here that would be a raise.

What makes a good blog? I think thematic consistency, a little exhibitionism, and honest writing. I can promise you the last one.

Most of my posts seem to be about music or politics. Some of them are funny. But all of them would love to hear a comment from you.

Oh-- and please welcome God to the APW team. We're thrilled and humbled to serve as His earthly vessel.

Name:
Location: NYC

I was born at a relatively young age. Growing up consumed the better part of my childhood. As a young man I chased a lot of girls. But they kept getting away. Then I got older and even slower, so I got married. I've lived in New York City almost since before I moved here. I summer in Manhattan, which is like New York City, but with more humidity.

Here's me, without baby, thinking big thoughts. (Actually, what I'm thinking is, "Hey, these aren't Pringles!") I think I look better with baby.

The Inevitability Express
Thursday, February 21, 2008
Barack Obama has what the pundits call "the big mo"-- momentum, as in he's won 10 state primaries or caucuses in a row. And the Teamsters just endorsed him, which is a great endorsement, because of course they all vote 3, 4 times apiece. Even though the delegate count is a virtual dead heat and it would take a miracle for either him or Hillary to sew up enough delegates before the convention to clinch, everyone seems to be writing her off. Because Obama now has the air of inevitability on his side.

This is insanely comical to watch. Because poor Hillary, for whom seeming inevitability was the primary justification for her own candidacy, has nothing in her quiver to shoot at the guy who has stolen her inevitability mojo. Nothing. Zip. Nada. It's as if she is literally whining in every speech, "But I was supposed to be the inevitable one."

This is what they call getting hoisted on your own inevitable petard.

(Does anyone know what a petard is?)

Herbie Loves Joanie

Did you all see that Herbie Hancock won the best album Grammy? It was pretty much out of nowhere. I mean, that record was not on ANY best-of-2007 lists...

Um, except mine.
